Career College is a Path to Job Placement and a Better Life

As an educator in the Career College industry I feel we are the best path for individuals to obtain employment and therefore a better life, quickly. We are more accountable to our students successful outcomes and demonstrate a certain passion for student success. This means working in this industry brings us closer to truly empowering a population to care for our future world in many capacities.

When students comment that you like your job, it really says that they see you as an individual that cares about their success, and they know that you are not faking your daily interaction with them. Integrity comes out in our voice, our appearence, and our willingness to help them transition to a new future in a career that you (their instructor ) have enjoyed working in yourself. These are the indicators of genuine quality which can't be falsified as if you were acting in a play.  Ones path has to be heartfelt or it will show up and students can see that we are in it completely or not, based on our daily actions.

good

I have had the opportunity to either attend, teach or lead just about every type of higher education institution and I find that working in the career college industry to be the most rewarding.  Our students are "at risk" . . . not at risk in that they can't do the required work, but at risk in that they are usually trying to achieve their higher education goals while balancing a full time job and often a family.  If a student uses their precious free time to go to school, they have higher ambitions to become more than what they are right now.  Our job as a career college is to best streamline their path so they can reach their ambitions in the straightest line possible.  I, too, love my job and I hope my students know that by how I act.

I agree with you.  In a nutshell, gainful employment.

Higher education can equal higher opportunity

I agree with the comments posted.  Students can feel you better than they hear you.  If you have the student's best interests at heart, they will sense that.  If you go the extra mile to be available for them outside of class and speak from the heart you will see better student engagement and learning than those who just do the minimum.

People don't care what you know until they know that you care. It is no different for our students. If they trust that you value them as people, and believe in what you are doing they will take your advice and counsel. We, as career college professionals, always have to remain genuine and caring. That is not to say that we can't deliver some hard facts to our students when needed. This will translate to successful students and successful outcomes.
