Begin each session with positivity!
I make a point to begin each class in a positive upbeat greeting projected on the wall also stating the learning objectives for that day. Students clearly know what is expected each day. Encouragement is given throughout the class period. Students that feel defeated prior to class, now have reason to decrease negativity.

I like to set the tone of how serious the nursing profession is and important it is that they are serious and dedicated to the program, as it is rigourous, nonethelss, it can be done!
From there I encourage them that though it is hard and we are firm, it is a great profession and they can do this!
I am famous for saying "You got this!"
It always amazes me how they are encouraged with those 3 words. Sometimes that is all that they need; just a little push.
