El112 Workload Balance

Here is how I plan to use what I have learned in EL112 Workload Balance.  I am currently an online teacher for the first time in my 20 year career, attempting to teach 4th graders remotely.  I am a bit behind the times with technology.  I often find myself starting work as early as 5:30 and staying with it, on and off throughout the day and evening to 10pm.   I have learned that my disorganization is contributing to my long hours.  From the course I will be implementing office hours and a schedule/routinestructure to do various parts of my work, including the new daily task of getting up to speed on technology.  I will have a specific start and stop times.  I will work in my office area only and not all over the house.  I will put my work away at the designated time so I won't wander back to it throughout the evening.  Also, I will shift my focus a bit from the content to the relationships and communcation with my students.  That is the part I was most proficient at in my classroom fallen through the cracks of the rush to get up and running with online assignments, grades, administrative work, online meetings with colleagues, and filling technology gaps for my students and myself.  That shift back to my strength of having positive relationships with them via live lessons and interactions will improve the quality of the online experience for them and for me.

Sounds like you have a plan!! YEAH!!

Sounds like a good plan. I have a dedicated space, but I often get sidetracked trying to do too many things at once. I should really set up a time schedule for myself with dedicated time slots instead of " today I should...."  and then not get it done. This has been very stressful being tossed into online teaching with very little professional development on how to do it effectively. I have a lot of sites I can use (I teach HS French) but no cohesive plan on how to put an actual " curriculum"  together.  I am struggling and looking forward to the end of the school year.
