I try and place myself in the shoes of the student. I remeber the challenges I faced and still face, and I know students are going thru the same challenges and more. Technology is coming at them fast and hard. Expectations are to finish quickly, it's at ther finger tips but at the same time, they also have to deal with the daily challenges of life. Sometimes this technological assault is too much for them to handle, and they can zone out into their apps, music, chat rooms, etc... Be compassionate!!! Our pace and lack of technology, allowed us to absorb the information slowly, and even still, we struggled with deadlines because of work, transportation, financial, etc... challenges. We as instructors must always remember that there may be other social components not allowing the student to succeed. And we muct be ready to help.
