Rules and expectations

I believe in setting rules and expectations for the very beginning of class, and also give updates on class grades at the end of each week.

I strongly agree Mr. Aguilar. Not only is it important to set the rules and expectations from the beginning, living up to their expectations is equally important. I usually ask for their expectations from me and put them on the board. That also sets the pace for them to realize exactly what will be expected of them.

Establishing what the rules and expectations are the first class/clinical meeting sets the pace moving forward. I have found over the years every class/clinical group is different so making sure the syllabus is clearly defined ... I love the color coding and bold boxes....with of course a student acknowledgment/signature line.I usually have to my syllabus separately from my university, their's it's usually generic format and in black font.

Then the first day of our meeting each student has printed their own syllabus out, having underlined any questions or concerns they have so we can all discuss first meeting.
