This lesson has given me a clearer aspect on how to convert traditional learners into modern learners. I've come to realize that majority of the students are used to having the answers given to them without doing much leg work so by engaging them with online activities such as Quizlet or Kahoot, not only are they actively learning, they're engaging with their fellow classmates and more open to class discussions, participation and retain the information they're learning.
Modifying traditional classroom activities involves adapting traditional teaching methods to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. This can include incorporating technology, promoting active learning, and differentiating instruction to cater to diverse learning styles.
I am adding active learning activities to my current and future courses that align with my topics and requirements for the student's enhancement. The use of rubrics will give guidance in my grading.
I learned that implementing active learning in online courses requires intentional planning, clear communication, and a mindset shift from instructor-led teaching to student-centered facilitation. It also involves addressing both instructor and student resistance, setting clear expectations, and scaffolding the learning experience. I plan to apply this by gradually integrating 3–5 active learning strategies aligned with course objectives, using clear rubrics, consistent communication, and upfront guidance to help students understand the value and structure of active learning from day one.
To move away from traditional lecturing and towards a flipped classroom, develop 3-5 active learning strategies to be used during the course, including "low-risk" activities that allow students to get used to how active learning works. Feedback throughout the course is also important to let students know how they are doing and to help motivate them.
With my new class that I am taking I will provide clear and concise explanations for what active learning is and the expectations for the course.
In this module, I learned that incorporating active learning techniques in virtual environments requires careful planning and a student-centered approach. It’s not enough to simply add activities; they must be aligned with the learning objectives and use appropriate technologies to facilitate interaction and engagement. Additionally, I understood that the instructor’s role shifts from being an “expert” to a guide or director who leads students through the learning process, encouraging collaboration and active participation, which can greatly enhance the educational experience.
I plan to apply this knowledge by designing activities that promote reflection, teamwork, and the use of accessible technological tools for all students. I also consider it essential to establish clear communication from the start so that students understand the expectations and the level of commitment required. This way, time can be better managed and students can be motivated—even those not accustomed to such dynamic learning—thus creating a more effective and meaningful learning environment.
I learned that good communication, good use of technology tools and a good attitude can help my class, and my students to learn more effectively. Also rubrics can help me evaluate my students and can help them know what to expect on the evaluation.

The one thing i learned from this course is that Rubric helps the instructor grade online assignments to help alleviate to the instructors stress or frustration. I plan on utilizing Rubric to help with grading as much as possible.

An instructor should choose approximately 3 engaging strategies for each class. Examples of engaging strategies include letting the student know why the content is relevant to their lives, providing insightful/positive feedback, provide clear boundaries but allow for creativity, use a rubric/assessment tool.
It is crucial for the instructor to use communication tools consistently and effectively.
Making sure that there is a clear understanding of what is necessary for any projects/things that are going to be graded. Using a detailed outlined rubric helps with that.
The use of rubrics makes it easier or the student and the teacher. They both know what to look for.
