ChatGPT and Its Educational Uses --> Impact on Teaching

Post what you've learned about this topic and how you intend to apply it. Feel free to post questions and comments too.

Chat GPT is a good tool to use with traditional education. It can also discourage student from using critical thinking skills and increase technology dependence.

ChatGPT can help organize my teaching plans to benefit the students.

This module on ChatGTP has given me a better idea on how I can use AI to my advantage as an instructor.  Maybe it can help me develop lesson plans. It may also allow me to use it to provide a better way of writing content for discussions, quizzes , communications and assignments.  I'm looking forward to doing my own research into the possibilities of what ChatGPT can do for me.  I also want to look into the negative aspects of ChatGPT so I can avoid problems.

This module reminded me that AI is only as valuable as the way we choose to use it. It encouraged me to think beyond convenience and focus on using AI to spark ideas, ask better questions, and improve the quality of my work rather than simply finding quick answers. Moving forward, I want to be more intentional about using AI as a tool for learning and continuous growth.

ChatGPT for use to begin setting up teaching plan. For evaluating learning, ChatGPT can help develop questions.

One positive impact that ChatGPT can have on education is that it makes learning more accessible. Students can receive immediate explanations, examples, and feedback, which can help them understand difficult concepts and learn at their own pace. It can also help instructors create materials, organize information, and develop new learning activities more efficiently.

One negative impact is that students may become overly dependent on AI and use it as a shortcut instead of developing their own critical thinking and problem-solving skills. If used improperly, AI can reduce the learning process by providing answers without requiring students to fully understand the material.

I believe the key is not whether AI is used, but how it is used. When combined with human judgment, reflection, and critical thinking, AI can be a powerful educational tool rather than a replacement for learning.

It can enhance teaching by creating questions, or helping you think outside the box. As long as it is used with good intent.

AI can enhance teaching by saving time on routine tasks while allowing teachers to focus more on student learning and relationships.  AI is not a replacement for teachers.

The use of chatgpt in education has great benefits as seen in this module, the important thing is that all the results obtained from the interactions that are carried out are validated, it is investigated if it is correct or not, to avoid misusing it and avoid plagiarism.

ChatGPT can be used to enhance many learning possibilities in the classroom.  You need to be vigilant to make sure that the disadvantages of ChatGPT do overtake the good.

Regarding the possible downsides to students reaching out to AI for emotional support and companionship is indeed worrisome. The chatter amongst some of my students is how many of their peers have "relationships" with a ChatGPT presence. When I brought this up in class, some giggled and some looked down; need to observe more and explore opportunities to discuss this with the students.

An important idea I learned in this module is that it is fundamental to set clear expectations and rules for ChatGPT use in class.

It is definitely a time saver when I am trying to plan lessons or to create new scenarios for students.  I do see a lot of students use it as a quick way to get answers without putting thought behind it.

I learned that in education, ChatGPT serves as a valuable learning companion for students, teachers, and researches. Students can use it to clarify difficult concepts, receive step-by-step explanations, practice language skills, and obtain assistance with assignments and study materials

I plan to use ChatGPT to streamline repetitive planning and feedback tasks so I can spend more time focusing on student engagement, critical thinking, and meaningful classroom interactions.

This module discussed Chat GPT - how to use it, how it can benefit students and instructors, and disadvantages to using it. Chat GPT is easy to use - just type in a question, hit enter, and wait for the answer. The more specific the questions or parameters the more specific the answer will be. Students can use Chat GPT to find answers to questions on a wide variety of topics, and they can use their own curiosity to ask follow up questions to learn more. Instructors can use Chat GPT to help them tailor a lesson plan for a student with a particular learning style or unique pace of learning, or give substantive feedback on assignments. Some of the disadvantages to using Chat GPT are reduced human interaction, possible incorrect or outdated answers, and plagiarism.

I agree with the use of AI Chart GTP being used in education but would really push to make sure learners did not become over dependent on using it for everything

One benefit is that ChatGPT offers fast explanations and learning support at any time, making it easier for students to grasp challenging material. A drawback is that overreliance on it may limit students’ ability to think critically and conduct their own research.
