The use of timing and response times when asking questions.

Br rewording my questions to the students I may get a better result

The classification system helps the instructor to ask questions at an appropriate level to assess understanding of the material among the students.  The closed question categories resemble Bloom's taxonomy and help to determine higher order learning.

One thing I really liked and I will be using in my classes is how to rephrase the questions, like instead of asking, is there any question, I will say, you must have some questions on what I have covered, who wants to go first...

By rewording your question at the end of lecture asking if they have questions will get better results than saying just "any questions"

Closed questions help to show the students ability to remember.  Best shown in multiple choice or select all that apply.  Open ended questions help to show the students ability to interpret and apply understanding.

Not only is it important for students to understand the difference between open & closed-ended questions, but it is also important to approach students understanding carefully. Asking "obviously you will have questions for me", who would like to go first will improve feedback.

Wow! My biggest take away is the questioning of my students appropriately to get the feedback necessary to improve my teaching skills. I am sure to use Now that I am complete with this section, I am sure many of your have questions which need to be answered?!!! Verses the blanket, Any questions? I really could put myself in that classroom. And it may help lessen the amount of students who stay after to ask their questions in private when the entire class likely will want to know the answer.

The classification system is a very useful guide for most instructors in improving the questioning and answering process, enhancing teaching, as well as learning, and the comprehension process, and guiding communications, as well as in performing assessments in particularly for the attending students.

It is important to understand the value in open ended questions

Supporting others in their use of effective questioning.
