Be prepared

Be prepared before the class begins so the time can be spent with the students

prior planning and early preparation alleviates last minute short fallings.

Learn to know and how to pronounce your student names well enough.

Plan & prep your students for success.

The importance of preparation and the benefits of arriving to class early to help form a positive instructor-student relationship

I need to get better at clearing stating the goals and objectives for the course, and then review them at the end of the course to show the student how far they have come.

Be prepared.  Know material.  Go over syllabus in detail outlining objectives.  Get there early.  Get to know your students and pronounce their names correctly.

Early and careful planning pays off large in the end, especially when you are new.

be upfront and honest

Preparation is key, with that comes confident!

The syllabus is like a battle plan for the troops. It tells everybody what is expected and when and where they need to be at all times. What is coming up, what we need to accomplish the next task. If a student gets lost, they can always check the plan and get back on track.

I've learned that preparation is key to having a successful learning environment not only for the students but for myself as well.

"Feel the spirits and hearts of the people" Giving yourself time to do so with your class before instruction.

I will place importance on reviewing course objectives, and using the syllabus as a guideline for assignments. The syllabus is a contract between the student and the instructor.

Honestly, my favorite take away from this portion was when the Harvard Professor described his reasons for coming in early and greeting students. He really resonated with me with the importance of taking the time to greet students, take a quick moment chatting with them and asking them how they are doing and what they are working on within the course, and most importantly; knowing and saying their names correctly. It is well known that people like to hear their name, that is for sure, but it is a simple practice in respect.  I enjoyed that and will take on that practice with more dedication.

Be sure you are holding your students accountable for making sure they are aware of the course objectives.

Come prepared, know objectives, set crystal clear expectations, and have a handy dandy notebook.

Planning and preparation will provide the course with structure and organization, as well as a goal for our students to comprehend the content that will be covered in each class session.

Make resource packets for students. Provide comfort, security, and acceptance. Follow a checklist and use a note pad to jot down things you need to do for students.
