Leading requires modeling and engaging with your students
Learning is the most important thing going on in the classroom, not teaching.
You have to be able to read the room, and meet the students at their point of need. If they haven't had the opportunity to learn a skill, or don't remember something, you don't have to destroy them. Work with them, show them by example, assist them until they can do it on their own. They won't care about our knowledge until we show that we are interested in their personal growth first.
I was always taught that first impressions are lasting impressions. I agree that being able to reach students is very important to developing trust within the classroom setting. Still remembering being a student myself, how can you believe what your instructor is telling you is correct if you do not trust them. There is also nothing wrong with being supportive of your students, as adults and people they go through things just the same as me on a daily basis.
Great pointers and examples. well done
