I've learned that Academic and Social Integration are important strategies for retention as it invites students to feel comfortable and connected to their school community. It does this by encouraging students to engage in school activities, to network with their peers, who are facing the same challenges, thus allowing them both to discuss and find ways to work on and find solutions to their challenges, I've also learned that training of Instructors to be open and receptive to student's questions, feedback, while encouraging them to participate in class knowing that No question is a dumb question, having the patience to repeat concepts, information repetitively to ensure students absorb the information. A Fabulous graduation is a great idea because it is the time for the students to bask in their accomplishments. It is their time ti shine! To feel proud of themselves, they deserve that. A time to celebrate the successful completion of their program with their families, friend's faculty and Administration. I've learned the importance strategies of Academic and Social Integration for retention. These strategies must be Intensive, continue and early.
