The onsite visitor may interview staff, faculty, students and others, in a cubicle, in an unoccupied office, in a conference room, a classroom, or by telephone, web-media or video chat. Telephone calls and video chats are becoming more common with faculty and staff who work remotely, especially in the case of online or distance education courses.
The onsite visitor may request to visit an externship site to conduct an interview with students or staff there. Sometimes the onsite visitor will ask the externship coordinator to plan the visit to the site, or they may choose to go alone to the site. It is becoming more popular to arrange a web-media or video chat with an externship site graduate or staff member.
Most commonly an onsite visitor will interview staff and faculty in a private location such as an empty cubicle, an unoccupied office, a quiet conference room or an empty classroom.
