When communicating with student either online or in person can be challenging when a language barrier is present, whether that is two different native tongues or generational slang. Sometimes you have to spelling things out step by step even the things you think are "common sense" in this course it demonstrated how without having experienced a situation then you have not learned those lessons and therefore you can not call it "common sense" if you or the student has no basic knowledge of the subject matter. So it is important to remind ourselves of this and remain calm step out of our shoes into theirs to meet the student where they are not where we are because they have not been where we are and we have not been in the situation.
