This module reinforced that active learning is a student-centered approach in which learners take responsibility for their own learning while instructors serve as facilitators, guides, and coaches rather than simply delivering information. Active learning encourages students to think critically, engage with course material through discussion, reflection, problem-solving, writing, and collaboration, and apply knowledge to real-world situations. Studies show that these strategies increase student engagement, motivation, satisfaction, and retention of course content.
As an educator, I plan to apply active learning by incorporating more interactive activities into my courses, such as reflective discussions, case studies, collaborative assignments, and problem-based learning exercises. I will focus on creating opportunities for students to actively participate, connect course concepts to real-world experiences, and take greater ownership of their learning. By moving beyond a lecture-centered approach and fostering engagement, I can help students develop stronger critical thinking skills and achieve deeper understanding of the material.
