I learned that language is more than just a way of communicating—it reflects cultural values, traditions, and identity. The words people choose and the way they express themselves can reveal a lot about their worldview and what is important in their community. I also realized how language can either connect people or create barriers if we don’t take time to understand cultural nuances. I will apply this by being more mindful of the language I use when interacting with others. I will strive to avoid assumptions, listen carefully to how patients and students communicate, and respect the different cultures and languages to build trust. This will support cultural sensitivity.
