Diversity is more than the differences in race, ethnicity, or culture. Diversity is about inclusion, respect and representation. As a teacher, we have to meet the student were they are. Student have different strengths, learning styles, and cultural backgrounds. We have to adapt our methods of teaching to use inclusive materials and create a conducive learning environment.
As a teacher, I will design lessons all student can relate to. Example, stories, and resources from different cultures and viewpoints will help to be inclusive. Making the classroom setting a safe space for all students better the chances of students learning to listen and learn from each others. Every student feeling seen and respected is my goal.
