I taught truck brakes and on the first day I would hand out one of the brake shoes. Tell me what's different between these and the ones on your car? when we were through with the discussion the relieve in the eyes told their own stories. I gained the students confidence then and there. After that what ever came up the students and I deal with without any "hoopla". When I explain the air system it's with dramalation and noises once the student gets past the fear it's over except for the shout.I try to make my lectures fun but informative and I usually get good results.

Cecil,

This seems to be a nice delivery technique. You are appealing to quite a few learning styles. Typically, your students will want to be hands-on. You give them that opportunity, even during a lecture. Well done.

I also make sure I have pass arounds while I do a lecture to help the student not only know about it but be able to identify the part as well....I also like to do demos in the class to help the student completely understand the procedures we are going to be doing out in the lab.
