Strategic Questioning Skills for Admissions Engagement --> Advanced Questioning for Deeper Insight

Post what you've learned about this topic and how you intend to apply it. Feel free to post questions and comments too.

One of the most important lessons for me in this section is "Effective questioning recognizes that barriers are often connected." It helps me see the student as a whole person and respond in a way that opens the conversation to exploring not just their ambitions and goals, but also their motivations and concerns.

Another important point is the idea that people communicate differently. I am learning to look for cues that indicate what type of communicator a person is, so I can tailor my questions to their natural communication style.

I learned how to effectively ask questions to gain further clarification without seeming confrontational. Asking leading questions to better understand potential constraints, limitations, or specific decisions made like - scheduling conflicts, program interest, declining a start date, etc.

GEtting engagement in the admissions process is crucial. Asking advanced questions for deeper insight help you make sure the student will complete and gain employment.
