I have learned the key importance of communication in the admission process. The ability to lock in and actually hear and listen to the person within the room, wither it is their words spoken, gestures in how they are sitting, the nervousness in their constant eye movement or the offsetting of body language they give when it is a clear overload of information being shoveled in their direction.
Communication is the fundamental tool in the admissions process. It should not be handled like a scripted novel, as fluency and connection stem from the admissions representative's authenticity, which generates trust and interest in the applicant.
Understanding as a professional skill is realizing that information is bound to be stale due to constant repetitions, it is good to check in with the student if they understand what is been said to them.
