Tutoring Courses

Twice a year we offer tutoring courses to the community. These courses are the same programs we offer in our career programs just at a fraction of the time and costs. They serve to refresh those who have completed the program and need information on new techniques, rules, regulations, etc. It also allows prospective students to enroll in a "crash course" before committing to the entire program of study. We have seen great results in both publicity and student enrollments.

Sounds like a great idea, Faye. Can you tell us which programs you offer these courses for and some more details? Do they count as continuing ed for some licensed professions. Thanks, Susan

We offer the tutoring for Home Health Aides and Nursing Assistants. CNAs are required to complete 12 CEUs per year in order to maintain licensure. We do offer continuing education but not in the same format as the tutoring courses.

Hi Faye
Tutoring and continuing education can be a great source of revenue. Also it brings people into your school who might not otherwise know about your offerings. This way they can see first hand and enroll in advanced programs and tell their friends. Great.

Faye:

This sounds like a great idea. I especially liked the "crash course" for potential students. It gives them a taste of what your school has to offer and keeps them wanting more. Thank you for the idea!

HI Faye and Janet
Can you share details about the crash course for potential students? Sounds like something a lot of schools can use or modify. Thanks. Susan

Susan:

We have yet to do this, but from what I understand you have the potential student sit in the classroom as a "guest for the day" for a refresher course. (ex. If a computer school, the student may refresh Windows 2003) This way they can observe the school's ambiance and hopefully enroll for a full curriculum.

Sounds great. It's like a test drive except the motivation is to learn something that will be useful whether they enroll or not. Susan
