Programs offered at your school?

What programs are offered at your school and how will you learn about the jobs students train for?

I actually go and sit in on courses offered. It is about knowing the product. It doesn't hurt that I have a interest in most of the courses provided. Any opportunities I have to participate in campus tours are also a plus. Every time I have taken a tour I have learned something new.

Thomas,
I have learned so much from faculty, classes and the students themselves. It's a great idea to sit in and learn.

We offer technical training in the areas of automtive, motorcycle and marine. It happens I have a interest in all three.

Thomas,
I am sure your true interest in the programs shows when you speak with prospective students. It also transcends much about your institution. Exciting!

We offer programs that are healthcare related. The best way to learn the programs are to meet with the instructors who have work related experience in that particular field in addition to sitting in on some of the classes being taught!

Pamela,
Another suggestion would be to visit some of the externship sites with the Externship Coordinator. You will get a real feel of the career the students are going into.

The program are cosmetology, skin care and manicure & pedicure, Full Specialist, Skin Care & Body Treatment, I have been working in this school for almost 8 years, and I have a great communication with Jobs placement , they give me a good information regarding job placement in each program, every day.
Ones of the best way is keep communication with a grad students to receive a feedback regarding their experience.
Some time Academic Director program a visit to an spa, or a beautysalon , to student and I have participate with this visits.

Eduardo,
Providing your own personal experience is important. Prospective students want real life experiences to catch on to.

My school offers masters level courses in medical physics, medical dosimetry, and medical health physics. The best way I learn about the jobs students train for is speaking with the chief academic officer about different jobs in the field, what those jobs include, and what places offer those jobs. I also talk to current students about the jobs they currently have, so I understand where students are coming from and what education they already have before seeking training at my school.

Our institution is very specialized. We offer Master's level programs in medical physics, medical health physics and medial dosimetry. Medical Physics and Medical Dosimetry are key players in any Radiation Oncology department. Medical Health Physics is linked to Radiation Safety and Nuclear Medicine.

Betsy,
Wonderful news! Students want to talk to people who really know the school and the industry. Check in with faculty or sit in on a class to gain more perspective.

Rebecca,
Your institution certainly is specialized. How do you keep up with all the medical specialization?

Admisions representatives/agents should not rely on verbal information given from any one person/s or department to educate or inform them about potential jobs. A vetted document publishing employment history should be the sole resource for information regarding potential jobs.

I agree. I have actually taken every single course our school offers. I am fortunate we offer shorter type courses where I am able to do this. So I can talk about the classrom work as well as all the hands-on experience gotten at an externship.

FIAA offers programs which train students for successful careers in the Pet Grooming and Veterinary Assistant fields. I have learned much about the jobs students train for through the school catalog and brochure, my own research and from speaking to our instructors--all of whom worked in the field in which they teach.

Jay,
Sounds like exciting opportunities ahead for your students. Pets are certaily our "other family" members. Ask to sit in on a few classes and talk with current students about their learning experiences. It helps to have a strong knowledge of the entire experience.

April,
All information regarding placement and salaries must have documentation substantiating the information. Gone are the days of giving such information without creditable sources.

Tony,
Wonderful! You are exceptional in bringing this personal experience to the prospective student.

As an admissions representative, it is my responsibility to provide students with detailed information about the wonderful programs we offer. Some of my favorite programs include Criminal Justice, Management and Marketing, Network Engineering and Administration, and Accounting, just to name a few.

I understand that infomration is constantly changing and our programs are improving on a daily basis, so I'm required to keep up with the changes. Some strategies I think can be useful are interviewing faculty members, career services, and our job placement department to learn more about their programs and strategies and share this information with my co-workers. Also, I find US World News, NY Times, and Kipplingers as great resources to keep up with global demands in the workplace. I think its essential to apply real world situations with students to help them make informed decisions about their future.
