Complimenting each other

Managers and leaders will compliment each other but which is better a boss who is a good leader with a person working for them who is a good manager or a boss who is a good manager having someone work for them who is a good leader?

You bring up an interesting question Wade and I'm not sure that one is necessarily better than another, it really depends on the individuals involved. I'll open this one up to the forum - what do others think? And what is your thought Wade?

I believe that employees look to someone to "lead" them more than they look to someone to "manage" them especially as you move up the corporate food chain. I would rather have a boss that leads me and allows me to manage myself as opposed to a boss that tries to manage me and expects me to lead myself unsure of what direction the organization is going in.
