Being a leader and not leading them around

In being a leader, it takes effort not to lead your team around, but to allow them the help lead the team. Teams will take the leadership role if you give them the resources to do so, the "Pat on the back" when things are done well, and direction when things bottle up.

I agree the trick is to not let the team spin off in all directions. so defining goals for the team to reach helps lead them with out micro managing the team.
Oh yea and I got these V-Rods.....

This is a good point. you have to give your team something to do to help for the common goal.
