Limitations and Misconceptions
This module helped me understand some of the limitations and misconceptions surrounding active learning, particularly the idea that instructors lose control of the learning process when students take greater responsibility for their education. I learned that active learning requires thoughtful planning, clear guidance, and a willingness to adapt teaching strategies to students’ needs. I intend to apply these principles in my environmental science classes by serving as a facilitator, providing clear instructions and constructive feedback, and incorporating activities that encourage critical thinking and independent learning. I also want to remain open to feedback and continuously evaluate which strategies work best for my students.
