Chat sessions

It is easy to drift into a one hour monoluge during chat sessions. Stopping to ask questions increases engagement tremendously.

Some of my classes are small and I never have a student attend the "chat" in real time.  When a student is present for the chat, I deliberately ask questions and get the student's involvement/experience.

Reply to David Hendry's post: David, do you record your chat sessions?  If yes, do you pose questions during the chat for the students that are watching the chat archive to try and increase their engagement with the material and encourage critical thinking?  I have observed some instructors that do this and it seems like a good idea!
