Very creative!
I love the ideas this course gives in order to teach critical thinking. Lecture and reading alone cannot do it. Many students are hands on learners, and most of these scenarios include ways to incorporate that. I especially like the one in which the students must listen to their partners and try to remember what was said. But in fact, the point of the whole exercize assess the visual aspect as well!
Juliana, it is a way to focus all learners in knowing that observational skills are key, and we can all get better at them.

Students definitely need to be able to apply the knowledge they are obtaining..i feel that many students are lacking in this area
beth, the way to get them to think about application of information, is to create opportunities to discover these themselves.

Working in a clinical situation is great for applying observations. Students have to take what they are seeing and make a diagnosis that is supported by the things they see.
I am looking forward to finding a way to use some of these ideas in my dental class. I have found it very helpful for the students to find new and fun ways to learn the material.
Carol, I know it is possible to adapt some of these ideas to your content. Thanks for thinking that.

I like the ideas in this course.I am always looking for ways to make lecture and lab classes easier for students.
Even more importantly, Beth, students need to feel comfortable and at ease talking to one another about their different experiences. Creating a creative environment where one is not criticized for the mistakes they may make is not very easy.
What good is knowledge if you are not willing to share it for the benefit of others.

I really liked this activity to demonstrate to students how important observational skills are in their profession.
Leslie, if the instructor can get this importance over to the learners, he/she has done a good job.

I teach a scientific methods class in which abservation is very important. This exercise is probably one that I will consider using.
Elizabeth, it does build observational skills. If that a is an essential, basic skill, it can reinforce your content.

What great activities, can't wait to use them. Continuing on in the course to see what other new things I can learn.
Natalie, thank you for the positive feedback on the course. My hope is that you apply at least one strategy shared here.

I will apply these methods to my teaching in clinical to give a variety to learning. Good way to think out of the box in concepts.
I will apply these concepts to the new methodology of learning in the clinical setting. Good way to think out of the box.
This is a very creative interactive way of keeping the students interested in subject matter. It goes beyond teaching from our limited personal experiences
I agree as well wit this type of style. This allows for them to use all of their different learning styles to grasp the whole concept.
