I think you should have a discussion with students about what they believe they are? Have them write them down on poster board, hang them in the walls, and then have them observe to so they can see what others do. When they see those things and it is pointed out to them, it becomes more real.

I work at a healthcare related college, so our students must understand that patients are looking for a strong connection with their medical assistant, dental assistant, etc. It is unlikely that one's knowledge of medical procedures is sufficient to help put a patient's mind at ease. Additionally, we recommend empathy and clear communication with everyone that they work with.
