new instructor worries

I was always the youngest one in the crownd and the fear was about respect.

that is normal we all felt the same. but after a while we learn how to deal with our fear.

Being a young instructor does seem to add other dimension or complexity to the job. In my experience that was exactly true, it just seemed that way. You tend to overthink what to do or respond comparing you actions to your more mature or experience peers. I found that by not trying to mimic those traits I felt more comfortable in trying to convey my lectures. As long as you are respectful, patient and honest things go relatively smoothly.

Make sure you know the material, at least for that day, and keeps the umms and errs to a minimum the rest kind of falls into place.

I think it was the knowing of the unknown that gave me the jitters the first time I taught.
