Student Monitoring

I have had instances that a student is "locked-in" with respect to their negative attitude towards instructor, school and education, as a whole. All possible ways to encourage the student to focus on positive side failed. I agree that there are limited boundaries to this behavior - letting go of the student.

Hi Ferdinand,
What do you feel happens when you let go of the student?
Patricia

letting go of the student, to me means that you stop caring about whether that student learns or does well in the class, ou just want to pass them on to the next person and not have to deal with them anymore, or in my case I would like to terminate them from the school, because they are not doing what you feel is appropiate to still be in school

I have found that classmates have been effective in listening and sharing how the negative student's attitude affects them. Sometimes students do not see themselves as others do; we all have different perceptions as well as the "negative" student.
