inactive students

I do find myself callin a few student on their attetion as the day goes on.
although imbareced the inactivity in the classroom will still go on.

While teaching a service writing class in a Automotive technical school,(boring class anyway) I find myself noticing many students bored, falling asleep, texting on phones. The idea of repositioning yourself around the room only works for alittle bit because the ones up front start doing the same, so I have come up with other ways to keep the students awake and interested in the class. I have found having the students role play what we are teaching keeps the students laughing and foused on the lecture we are going over, also breaking the students up in groups and playing a form of jeopardy the groups are competeing against each other, thus keeping everyone involed in class and I also find the students learn better and retain what they have learned longer.

Hi Bradley,
Great way to change the pace of the room. The more active learning you have with a class that is not exciting, the more exciting the class will become. Continue to be creative and involve as much active learning as possible.
