Ability to Benefit Students

If your school has ATB students, do you give them any reading or other tests to help determine the students basic learning abilities?

Hi Fred,
It all depends upon the college's policy. Some give the TABE or some other form of basic literacy assessment. I think these assessments are very good to give as they help to give a baseline from which instructors will know what the skill levels are for their students. Knowing that a student is reading at a 8 grade level is valuable when it comes to planning for instructional support.
I have found that the more information I have about my students the easier it is for me to develop long range instructional plans for them.
