Online and on grounds and the structured classroom

There is a distinct difference in the structure of an on ground class with that of an online class. The virtual setting has no walls, tables or chairs. Online, the structure is created by being on time and constantly delivering information that is related to the subject.

I've noticed that the virtual student has to have a high level of discipline for those very reasons. Without those boundaries, it could easily promote procrastination.

Hi Christopher,
This has been my experience as well. This is why it is so important for those of us that teach online to keep regular contact with our students. This way they are reminded of upcoming deadlines and it increases the level of accountability.
