I like the idea of building school culture around genuine student support, where daily personal connections, proactive intervention, and staff accountability drive retention far better than any marketing slogan ever could.

Students see through newsletters. If the word in around campus is that nobody listens or keeps things confidential, they won't reach out. Good retention isn't about marketing our services; it's about our team showing up with genuine empathy, protecting student dignity, and delivering real support every day.

This module reinforced the importance of having a motivated, positive and passionate team that understands its purpose in education. When educators know their "Why they can profoundly impact and shape students' lives for better.

Surely, this was a great learning experience.Motivation, vision, mentoring and monitoring become much more effective when combined with emotional intelligence. A teacher's involvement, honesty, dependability and positive attitude play a critical role in a student success. When students feel genuinely supported and cared for, they are more likely to stay engad, overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

This module offered several great takeawys, including customer service, The Edu-Perineurial spirit and HABE.I especially found The Vision technique to be a powerful tool for motivating students, as it helps them stay focused on their goals and future success.

What I learned from this module is that many of the concepts are already being practiced in our daily work. However, I particularly appreciated the term "Heart Intelligence". It emphasizes the importance of leading with kindness, empathy and genuine passion. I believe this approach has a powerful impact on students because every individual can recognize when care and sincerity are coming from the heart. When students feel valued, understood and supported it creates trust, strengthens relationships, and enhances their learning experience. This simple yet meaningful concept can make significant difference in both personal and professional interactions.

What is the most effective strategy your institution has implemented to improve student retention? Whether it's early alerts, proactive outreach, academic support, or something else, I'd love to hear what's working at your school and what lessons you've learned along the way.

Attention=Retention. Everyone wants to feel seen and heard.

There are a myriad of types of support that can be offered to students.  I like the idea of seminars - offered by people outside of the program, to provide a variety of support voices.

I look forward to discussing the 8 stages of intervention with the Program Directors and faculty in my Division.  These are a great foundational approach with a student that is exhibiting academic or attendance issues.  IT is doable when time is limited. .(e.g. 15 - 30 min).
