My biggest take away is that Career Services is just one aspect of student's success and we have many different avenues to help them succeed.

Considering the difference between advisor and coach has been enlightening. I enjoyed that section. However, from the small town I teach in, the relationship is almost always already present.

What I have learned, is that the career services department is not alone in supporting the students to gain employment in their field. All departments contribute to their success within their fields.

This section focused on the importance of establishing a service related relationship and using tools/resources to build your brand. When speaking w/ potential employers I will be sure to focus on what I can offer them and their company so the relationship is a win-win for all. I will also use all resources available to build a strong brand representing the services offered and how I can be of assistance to help others.

It is imperative for Career Advisors to be able to assist students with their online presence. Paper resumes are getting to be a thing of the past. Advisors need to stay up to date on the latest trends in order to best help students.

I think its important to be empathic with the students and know that it is real with the discrimination they will deal with but also to have them understand they should be up front with their colleagues and educators on how they like to be addressed.

I learned that someone should do a bit more research  on the company to make sure they will feel comfortable and they can ask questions that provide more clarity

I would suggest to coordinate them with a mentor that could help them understand how to own their own success.

I learned to understand the common barriers LGBTQ students face that uniquely influence their career choices and opportunities for progression.

I hadn't heard about the NCRC and am intrigued. I'll look into it more.
