I've worked in environments with solid leadership (but poor management) and I've also experienced workplaces with poor leadership (but strong management)- working directly under solid management really served to inspire and motivate their team. They were able to lead by example and unite their team under their common goals. Had their leadership supported them and given them the kind of support and value our manager had given us, that manager never would have left that company.

I was impressed to learn that leaders are somewhere between nature and nurture- the myth that leaders are either born (or born non-leaders) is incorrect- it's a combination of nature AND nurther (the school of hard knocks AND reading books/learning leadership strategies).

I did not know before starting this module the difference between leaders (the key personnel with the vision and goals for the company) and the managers (the employees tasked with executing the vision through leadership of their team of coworkers.

Managing a team is more of a task list to check off for the team you oversee; however, a leader will have the vision and paints the picture of the goal, and the team will make the painting come to life.

The Interactional Leadership Framework suggests that effective leadership is determined not solely by the leader's qualities but by the ongoing interaction among the leader, followers, and the situation. Success occurs when leadership behaviors align with follower needs and situational demands.

Both the leader and manager need each other to ensure the success of the organization.

Leaders play a vital role as well and the I feel the manager needs the leader as much as the leader needs the manager.

I have never really thought about the difference between a leadership role and a manager. I always thought being in leadership made you a manager, but i now see the difference and how much harder it is to be a manager.

Flexibility of the leader is the key for success

Leadership can be taught and anyone can be a leader.
