I will spend more time emphasizing time management and communicating high expectations.

I teach communication, so this informed a lot about alternative comm methods. I would use social networking activities to allow students to practice communicating with different audiences. Perhaps a short video, an infographic, or a digital post designed for a specific audience would allow for a variety of feedback. These types of activities can help make the online class feel less isolated. Practicing what they learn in the class with people who are in or not in the class would open them up to a variety of viewpoints.

I find it odd that many online students who attend TEAMS/ZOOM meetings would rather put their comments in the chat box rather than simply speaking to their peers. It seems they do not understand how written communication can be difficult to decode without the tone of voice to help communicate their message.

i realize that a lot of this information is about executive functioning skills. i've decided to add a section to my "welcome" module that gives tips on time management, learning environment, and assessing their motivation.

I will create lots of interactions for my students to be a part of like discussions and small groups.
