Career-based ie "hands-on" learning  can still use concepts described in an e learning environment and vice versa. For example, as an aircraft mechanic, a technician needs to analyze or sort through and take inventory of the tools and manpower that will be needed to change out a tire. A good online presentation would be to film real aircraft maintenance taking place.

Developing a course syllabus is of utmost importance. Lecturing delivery method and lab work time will affect the syllabus.

Both synchronous and asynchronous methods of exchanging information are available on gaming platforms. In the area of aircraft maintenance, iPads are used at flight line areas for documenting work done and certification of legality/airworthiness. I will show the relevance of using Teams for example when aircraft technicians needed to share the location of an aircraft maintenance manual document to reference a type of work accomplished to another technician stationed at a different ramp.

Correspondence courses are the bedrock of nontraditional learning in regard to today's online learning. The first known correspondence course was taught in the 1700's. Because e learning has grown more sophistication, it is part of the higher learning institutions at a 21 percent rate and 6 percent rate. No doubt the Covid pandemic taught the educational world the benefits of quality online education. Online courses include structural integrity, navigational simplicity, active learner-centered learning and intellectual interaction.

The media section is one that I am the most uncomfortable with. I have a large choice per the last session, and a multisensory approach is best, but that takes a lot of preparation on my part to feel like I can manage it. Need to jump in anyway!

I love self-tests—they can motivate and encourage and challenge to engage with the concepts. Student self-confidence is supported and improved generally. I want to include more of these.

There are styles of communication/learning that can increase engagement and reduce isolation. Makeing video lectures and video assignment feedback are two that I need to use more of.

Engaging the brain and the heart is essential for nurse education. Seeing how the content of a course self-benefits the student is the first step. The 'why' in 'Why am I taking this course? helps identify the value and get a student started, but good course design, developed with engagement in mind, keeps that student.

I appreciate the idea of having students complete an Online Course Readiness Quiz. Many students will choose asynchronous learning since it offers better flexibility for their schedules, but do not consider that this may not be the best approach to their learning.

It is amazing how times have really changed. There are degrees that may be obtained 100% online today. Incorporating navigational simplicity, intellectual interactions and such really contribute to student engagement and commitment.
