About me

I am a former dental hygienist educator and a current nurse educator with over 20 years of both on-ground and online teaching experience. Additionally, I have served as a chair of the nursing department, serving both students and faculty.

Activity

The media section is one that I am the most uncomfortable with. I have a large choice per the last session, and a multisensory approach is best, but that takes a lot of preparation on my part to feel like I can manage it. Need to jump in anyway!

I love self-tests—they can motivate and encourage and challenge to engage with the concepts. Student self-confidence is supported and improved generally. I want to include more of these.

There are styles of communication/learning that can increase engagement and reduce isolation. Makeing video lectures and video assignment feedback are two that I need to use more of.

Engaging the brain and the heart is essential for nurse education. Seeing how the content of a course self-benefits the student is the first step. The 'why' in 'Why am I taking this course? helps identify the value and get a student started, but good course design, developed with engagement in mind, keeps that student.
