Mistakes are common, and necessary. Creating an environment where students can grow in confidence and in knowledge, involves them being able to learn from a human who does the same. A teacher is more a guide than a master, or dictator.

providing a safe and fertile environment for each student is important. Managing angry/disruptive students is a skill that must be readily available in precise steps and deliberate sequence.

As with learning types, each student will have an "action", or "personal attitude" type/style. By paying attention as well as having a solid and certain immovable standard structures in place, students can each be valued, heard, and guided through each class, whilst feeling heard and understood.

If taking the time to listen and help diffuse the situation doesn't help, then it is important to get another faculty member or the director involved. If the behavior continues, then steps will need to be taken to dismiss the student from your course.

I liked all the tips; however, the one I liked the most was the one regarding the talkative students and giving them cards to help them refocus and participate with their comments that are more relevant.

Reviewing the syllabus on the first class to set the stage for the expectations and how each student can succeed in the class along  with the due dates for assignments and penalties for late assignments.
