Yes, I agree.  There are still many prescribed standards in public school, however, as you say, having a context of open and direct communictaion and "scaffolded" learning provides more learning opportunity for students.  Perhaps with increasing exposure to online across the country, changes might happen, too, with prescrived learning. 

Yes, the newer technologies provide great opportunties for engagement and interaction - just try it and see what works!  The students, as always, will let you now what works best and how to adapt the technology in ways they find beneficial. 

It's interesting, too, that research is telling us that, as we get older, the recall delays are more to do with the vast amount of information our brains have retained over the years than that the brain is getting older - a challenge of being packed rather than being old :)

My sense is that most learning environments integrate some form of eLearning now. The lines between online and F2F are disappearing because most resources are now online.  I think we are slowing down the developmnet process by continuing to see ourselves in one or the other "mode".  The more we learn and become familiar with online, the more helpful our courses will be to students and also the less we will remove oursleves from what we really need to participate in - I'd love to hear from others on this....

I think we all are continuing to learn - things change quickly and it seems almost everyday. Welcome and enjoy getting used to the community. 

 

I am seeing that new technology tools not only integrate environments through a varoety of access and interaction possibilities, but they also are expanding teh development integrated  and thinking skills - not only for students but also for faculty.  As increasing number of social and learning enviornments interface, faculty as well as students are epxected to "publish" to these environments.  Therefore, thinking drives these enviornments which, in turn, provide wonderful opportunities for applied and critcal thinking to increase.  Also, editing, summarizing, and analyzing are all skills that are requied to keep posts and contributions focused and efficient.  These are all… >>>
