FANTASTIC Ideas!

I just finished reading through all of your postings about the various methods the you folks use to generate excitement and build relationships within your schools. AWESOME! I have made a list that will become my new plan. It will include: 1) Hosting Charity Events and Open Houses. 2) Press releases about Grads. 3) Checks to students that make referrals. 4) Giving t-shirts away as walking advertisements. Thank you for all of the ideas! Wow . . . I'm gonna start with an Open House and an e-mail coupon for grad referrals that will give their referral a tuition reduction and the referee a check after one month, and start planning a charity event in the fall. Pretty awesome! THANK YOU ALL!

Partnering with Organizations for Common Goals

We recently had a Medical Center educator request to be an instructor for our nursing students so that the monies earned could be channeled back into the organization's fund for providing tuition support for BSNs getting their master's degree. This seems to be a win-win situation as the organization benefits by receiving money, and the school benefits by having an instructor for nursing students who is experienced and familiar with the hospital setting. It is helpful when schools can find common goals or complimentary goals that promote sponsorships such as this one.

I am working on my written communication skills. It is easy to communicate on the phone, you can mirror the person and it is easy to adapt to their personality, I feel very comfortable talking on the phone. Face to face is also nice because you are able to read body language. When communicating by email it is easy for your message to be misunderstood. I find myself having to rewrite emails before I feel that they are worded correctly so that the message will be clear. I will continue to work on and improve my written communication.

Publishing a Newsletter

I thought the concept of publishing a newsletter to send to clients and potential clients was interesting. Sometimes it is difficult to obtain approvals for timely newsletters, but I think this is a good way to keep your name fresh in your customers' minds while also giving them an update. A school could publish its own newsletter, have the newsletter even include information about events at partnering institutions, thereby encouraging continuing public relationships with that institution while promoting name awareness of both.
