Social Media

Different marketing strategies are key in schools being successful, especially now when everything is so technologically oriented. I think that social media is going to play a huge role in advertising for different schools and can be very successful. I wonder if this will be taken into consideration and if advertising on these types of sites will become more regulated eventually.

Enrollment

After going through this section, I have decided to keep all of this information in a booklet. It is definitely a lot of informtion, so I need to keep it organized.

The Resource Notebook Idea

I am a newbie Admissions Representative and I have previously saved all my paper work and in a way created a binder and then during my Ohio training I've noticed that it focused a lot on the idea of creating the notebook that I could have by me at all times. I think this is a great idea that could help out a lot. I would probably just want to have some guidance as to what sections to put in the notebook and what order I could have all the important papers organized in so I, in a way, could have a set outline that way my work is done smoothly.

Resource LIst

I am so appreciative of the resource list! This made it possible for me to ensure that my resource book has everything I need as a new agent. I also got to ask questions about my current school that had not been answered yet in training. I hope others are finding this process just as informative.

Marketing Strategies

It is intriguing reading this sections information and thinking back on how other schools promote and advertise their programs. At the time it does not look regulated but it is good to know that for the most part rules are being followed by the pamphlets and mailers I get. As an Agent it is good to see that answers prospective students need can be at my fingers tips via my schools marketing plan.

Enrollment and Tutition

This section covered so much information that I had to read and reread! It solidified for me the need to create and maintain the resource book as the details involving enrollment, the catalog, tuition and fees and refunds can be so convoluted that I know I would need to refer back to this information again and again as a new agent.

New to the field

Hi! I am new to the world of admissions and am pleased to have so many resources to rely on. I am enjoying reading previous discussions and reading the coursework here. I took my first quiz and believe that my career change is a good one - actually not that much different than the field of Human Resources. Is there anyone else out here who can agree with that statement?

Compliance

Make sure that you read over all regulations so that you are within compliance while recruiting.

Graduation Rates

Anytime you are talking about numbers from the school make sure that you give accurate information.

Diploma Mill

If a school is on the diploma mill list I would do serious research and most likely look at another school.

Qualification

Not every student will be accepted into a program or school so make sure that you do not say all students are accepted.

Federal Loans

Make sure that you don't quote a student how much his loan will be and how much they will make after they graduate.

Student Services

That topic was for intertesting it did touch on some things I was not aware of, it is good to know that the students have those services available to help them along the way.

passing it on

So far one of the most interesting ideas in this job for me is to not have to necessarily MASTER the financial aid aspect of our job. We can know the basics, but it is not our job to communicate the information or tell a student what theey are eligible for. With my previous jobs, It was common to be an expert in all aspects of the company. But here, we know what the other departments do, and how to work with them harmoniously, but it would be wrong of me to try to do their job for them. I like that.

marketing stratigies

It was good to know what really happens in the marketing business this topic opened my eyes to alot things in business and I understand things alot more

Financial Aid,Tuition Topic

I really learned something from this topic that I could provide my children and family members about finanical aid tuition as well as the students there are so many plans and programs to used for financial aid if someone really wants to attend school Im sure if more people knew the programs there would be more people attending school.

Ohio rules for school

I found this information to be very important and educational for me even though I dont live in Ohio it always to good to know school laws in other states besides I sure this informtion will help along the way on my job and help me provide the information needed to asist students I really enjoyed that topic.

Newbie in Admissions

Hello all! This is my first time being an admissions representative. I never realized the amount of training that is required to represent a school the way the we all do. It gives me peace of mind, however. I have one question. My background is strong in customer service - I have worked for a hair salon (as a manager) for the last 5 years. My question is: In your day to day activities in your job do you use more sales experience or customer service?

Transfer of credits

If a student is concerned with transfer of credits the catalog information should be provided but it is important that the student follow up on obtaining their offical transcripts.

Student Services

Student Services is something that allows a student to feel confident in obtaining help or direction at their college.
