No Sugar Coating

Hi everyone! I am a new Admissions Rep. I attended a meeting today to learn best practices utilized amongst our veteran Reps. In regards to the topic of tuition, I found that being honest with the prospective student definitely displays trust. Initially, a student will deem his/her tuition too expensive. However, we must remind them that Financial Aid is available to assist.

Transfer of credits

All of the schools have a policy on how many credits they transfer and from where they will transfer it from. Most of those schools including my school do not take life experience for credit hours.

Marketing

It was important to me to know how as a school you can't just market everywhere. One example of that is that a school can't market in the job section.

Enrollment agreement

In the enrollment agreement at my school, there are a lot of documents that are required to be put in the file before a student can start a class. Some of them is like vaccinations, physical.... Is there a way to get the students to get everything together sooner or even help them with it?

Admissions Test

Admissions test are very important in the enrollment process. If a student was to be enrolled in a course without taking a test, especially for students without a High School Diploma or GED, the student might of been waisting their time and money by not having the intellectual requirements to succeed in the course. These test are used to avoid situations like those and they should be taken seriously.

Being the Admission Representative it is my duty to keep up with all regulations. This will not only help me but will protect the school from licensed being revoked or put on probation for my misrepresentation.

Transfer of Credits.....Important

The transfer of credits is very important in regards to the student and to the institution. The student has to keep up to date and read in the institution's catalog to see if there is the option of transferring credits. Some institutions will not accept credits, others will. All institutions should accept credits, after all the student has studied and taken them, might as well accept the credits so the student can look forward to their future and graduating quicker to get to where they want to be.

Student Services

I believe it is probably the most critical and important aspect to a school to have student services available to students. Many students rely on this source to get an idea of which road to take at the institution and rely on advice from the adviser. This can be a make or break point for a student. Personally, I have had some great experiences from a student adviser from the student services department, but then again I have had some terrible experiences as well. It all depends on the person advising, so it is also key to have a person that actually cares about the student's future and issue going on with him/her at the moment.

Fiancial Assitance

It is very important for the institution to give a complete and thorough overview of the specific guidelines as to the financial matter to the student. The institution is given the opportunity to help students regarding financiability and that is very important.

Required Admissions Test

In reference to the required admissions test for all institutions, I believe it gives a perfect overview and insight as to how to prepare ourselves for any given circumstances as they come along. At first, I thought the required admissions test was a bit of waste of time, but now that I have read carefully and thoroughly through this process, it is worth the time and gives detailed information that is important and useful for the future in working within an institution.
