Staying Current

This is something that I am very good about. I never want to be caught in a situation where I know something has changed and I don't have the information handy to give to the propsective student.

paper work.

I feel like the paperwork process has to be less for admissions. We're sales people that should be our main focus. When some one buys a car, the sales person makes the sales then takes them to someone else to do the contract and other paper work!

Product Knowledge

A complete understanding of your programs, employment opportunities, licensures, and product knowledge of practice are good ways of making sure the Admissions Representative is updated on the outgoing institution practices and functionality. This ensures that the information being provided to the prospective student is accurate.

Best Interest of the Student

One of the callings for an Admissions Representative is to look out for the interest and welfare of the student. For instance, sometimes we meet a student that English is their second language. After interviewing these students, the admissions representative should make an assessment of whether this student truly has the potential of being successful in the program of their choice. We must be proactive in recognizing that sometimes a student is not a good fit for our school due to the language barrier. Therefore, we should stay away from setting these students up for failure. By following our institutions protocol we avoid these issues.

Choice of Custmized Program/ Knowing your Clientele

CHOICE OF A CUSTOMIZED PROGRAM Our pitfalls as school owner/Program Director: If we were to ask: Why this program and not this one? 65% of the answer would be economically oriented. What are the requirements for a school to financially funded or in compliance with Title 4 Correct me if I am wrong. Does the federal government request a proposal for the program, necessity and cost effectiveness. I do not think so. 1st) The Institution is not directly involved with the loan. Of course as an intermediary under a sworn statement that guarantees the student is reliable. This should not be the case. The point of the matter that student will wind up with a $35,000.00 Loan with no jobs available. Next the credit reference and loan deferment. The annual report would emphasize on black minorities the highest on loan deferment. School owners or Program Director should establish a cross reference networking before advertising a program. Admissions vs. Sales

I have been an Admissions Representative for over 15 years and one of the most difficult tasks is to assist the potential students by giving accurate information and some guidance without applying sales pressure. It is very important to create an honest relationship that will benefit both the student and the Institution. In some cases the fear of just being "sold on the school" affects the flow of the Enrollment process. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to deal with this issue?
