The Art of Powerful Questioning

This course was extremely enlightening. All of the information in each module was relavant and valuable tools to questioning and communicating to the students sufficiently. Knowing how to question and stay above the line with students helps us to instruct students and maintain rapport so the student retains as much knowledge as possible.

I have been through the Pacific Institute training with Joe Pace for our College.  This was refreshing, and some really good information here.  Sometimes we are all guilty of not seeing the forest for the trees.  Good stuff!

Wow so much information. I did not realize retention was so complicated and involved so many parts of a school.

I never even thought about the important role that Admissions could play in student retention. Before, I only thought about how they enrolled students.  I learned so many benefits of collaborative activities that Admissions and Academics can get together on, in order to increase student retention.  I do, however, work a lot with Career Services. Regardless, the idea of creating a website of graduates who are looking for positions and post-graduates who are already employed is a brillant idea.  Talk about showing students how to make connections!  I have already spoken to our Career Services Administrator and we might try this out!

I truly enjoyed reading all the comments on customer service.

I feel our organization has wonderful customer service....always willing to go the extra mile!

This course is very relevant to my position...thank you!  I will be able to apply this information to my day-to-day activities at work and also in my personal life...great course!

I really enjoyed this course! It supported a lot of what we already practice but really gave me great ideas and insight on what we can change. I like that it explains why these things are so important based on facts.

I agree. We as students seem to be getting imaptient and taking things for granted and not focusing on the art of questioning

I just completed the above training and it was very informative.  I have been utilizing many of the Best Practices that were discussed.  One area which I do emphasize is the improtance of having the "right" instructor for new students.  This is also a very important concept to implement.  I am very cautious of which instructor is teaching my new students.  Even though every instructor needs to be compassionate, empathic and understanding towards our students, the instructor teaching "new students" must be someone that understands what these students are going through.

Every instructor needs to be enthusiatic and excited about teaching.  Students can "feel" this.  Students need to know that their instructor is just as excited as they are.
