Retention Best Practices

I think one of the most important factors for retaining students through graduation and getting hired is to demonstrate care of student success.  Instill in the students that the Instructor is there to help them find the path to success, not by doing it for them, but helping them navigate the path of life to success. I will give the students examples of coping strategies, and ideas of how to problem solve situations to help them find solutions and help show by example how to communicate professionally and effectively.

An outstanding Instructor demonstrates, opens the door, turns on the light and makes the learning process engaging, enjoyable, and irresistible to the student so much so that the student finds their way to success and is unable or incapable of finding an excuse to fail.

I think that is a reachable goal.  I will find a way to make that happen for every student, every time.  I will find ways to treat every student as if it is my only student. With thoughtful planning every class everyday and personal attention to every student every day, I will be positively influencing the retention rate one day at a time.
