Refresher

The Education Industry has gone through some house cleaning and that is a good thing.  It is always a good idea to get some refresher training every once in a while and stay current with changes.  I am in a new school after 8 years with another one and it seems like we are all on the same sheet of music... Compliance and ethics always the

States regulations and training are great ways to ensure compliance, but it has to become a culture to be more effective.  Despites the rules and regulations, if the environment does not promote a compliant culture, it will be hard for the admission/enrollment/financial aid representatives to develop a working ethics.

Great insite. You are right. Compliance training is good, but, it has to be the culture at the institution you are working at for it to be effective. I have worked at a school where it was not the culture. It was difficult, because I refused to be a part of it. Thankfully, now I am at a school where compliance is the culture and working here is great.

Guy - you hit the nail on the head.  Prior to seeing your post I was thinking of the phrase "culture of compliance" for my post topic.  Those who believe in compliance, and participate in compliance education (such as MaxKnowledge courses) need to take that information back to their schools and peers/superiors.  Improving a company culture can happen from the bottom-up, as well as the top-down.

The unfortunate house cleaning that John refers to is (in my perspective) a result of the lack of a culture of compliance within many school organizations.  This "culture" is surely talked about - most school leaders speak of "zero tolerance" for ethical wrongdoing.  More often though, employees hear of "metrics" and "making the numbers" in admissions, placement and throughout the school.   Training all employees on State, accreditiing, and FA regulations is a good starting point.  The future of the entire career education industry will depend on leaders and investors looking long-term and creating environments that are compliant and focused on long-term success for not only the school, but also for employees, students, and graduates.
