Improving Delivery

One of the valuable concepts from this course that I believe will help my sudents complete homework is to highlight or put a box around the deadline. I give my students a printout of the online calendar, but the homework listed in the box can be overlooked as it is crowded by other objectives for the day. From now on, on the first day of the class I will have the students highlight or circle the exam and homework listings. This way it will stand out to them and help them to complete the assignment and to be prepared for the exam. Something I recently implented was giving an outline on the board at the start of class that lists the objectives for the day, so the students know what to expect and what we will be doing next. I have also implemented handing back graded work and/or printouts a few minutes before class so that students are aware that I intend on spending the class time wisely. I have noticed that starting class on time has really helped the sudents to be ready to engage when class starts. Most of them are now showing up on time and are ready to go once I arrive.
