Building Safer Campuses

Training staff and students on Title IX and VAWA promotes awareness, prevents harassment, and ensures fair responses. Sharing Best practices and lessons learned helps create safer, more supportive, and accountable campuses.

Title IX and VAWA

I’ve learned the importance of prompt, fair, and informed responses to Title IX issues. Best practices include clear communication, providing resources, and ensuring confidentiality when requested. My action plan is to apply these procedures consistently, promote education and awareness, and support a safe campus environment. Successes include improved understanding of policies; challenges involve balancing confidentiality with campus safety.

Building a Safer Campus Through Awareness and Action

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve taken from this course is how critical it is to go beyond just “knowing” Title IX and VAWA policies, and instead, learning how to apply them in real situations. Understanding the laws is one thing—but being prepared to respond when a student or colleague comes forward with a concern is what truly makes the difference in protecting our learning environment.

A strategy that has worked well for me is active listening combined with resource connection. When someone shares a concern, the natural instinct is to try to fix the problem immediately. However, I’ve… >>>

reflection

I will use this course to create and maintain a basis of understanding of title 9 and Vawa.

Title IX and VAWA

I am happy to say that I appreciate such in depth training on both Title IX and VAWA. I was not as familiar with the Clery Act, which saddens me that previous Institutes I have worked for does not provide such in depth training to employees and students. Knowing and being familiar with these will help not only me but all in general to hopefully provide a safer environment for our learning.

Title IX and VAWA

I have learned how to provide a legal foundation to ensure educational equity and how to prevent sex-based discrimination and sexual violence on campus. This course will help me fulfill my role as a Coordinator in addressing discrimination, harassment, and assault, to ensure a safe learning environment.

All on us!

The very essence of this training is that we must take ownership of our actions and the safety of others. Always be aware of your surroundings and if you see something, say something. We all must take responsibility.

Great Refresher Course

Geri Reichmuth

Very important information.

More efficient

I plan to move forward with more knowledge and efficiency.

Title IX

The training on Title IX, VAWA, and the Cleary Act was very informative and insightful.  As an educator in today's world it is imperative to be informed and alert in areas concerning sexual harassment.

If you see something or hear something...

Take it seriously and repoti it to your Title IX Coordinator or local Deputy.

Wisdom

As I learn more about the significant power to investigate immediately once informed, my humble opinion would be to report immediatley to the Title IX coordinator any potential allegations in the hopes of providing protection of potential victims.

Relevant

To be able to properly utuilize resources is important for students and faculty. This information is needed as we have an ever shifting culture.
