Activity

Take time to dialogue with your students about safety awareness techniques. Try not to be distracted and try and coordinate walking across campus to prevent unwanted aggressive acts. Encourage reporting of stalking and why the reporting is significant.

A bystander has the power to intervene in potential situations. Encouraging people to act is powerful and can potentially prevent harm.

As I learn more about the significant power to investigate immediately once informed, my humble opinion would be to report immediatley to the Title IX coordinator any potential allegations in the hopes of providing protection of potential victims.

Learning so much about how education institutions must immediately investigate allegations of a hostile situation, sexual harrassment, violent acts, on and off campus, including on-line if made aware.

I have learned about the Title IX coordinaters responsibility and other faculty as well in reporting violent crimes or harrassment, unwanted texts or e-mails. I plan to pay attention to the dialogue and report suspected incidents to be investigated.

Coming from working in post-acute care, Title IX reminds me of the reporting requiremens for employees in the workplace. What was significant to me is the detail of the law, logging and reporting requirements. Certainly a significant law in safeguarding all students from a hostile environment.
